Rules for the 1st All Assam Amateur Rapid Chess Championship 2024


General Information

- Organized By : Kamrup (R) District Chess Association in association with All Assam Chess Association

- Supported By : Sai Chess Academy, Chess Kingdom India, and Northeast Chess India

- Venue : SBOA School Lakhra, Guwahati

- Dates : 25th & 26th May 2024

- Total Prize Fund : Rs 1 Lakh

- Time Control : 25 minutes with a 5-second increment from move 1

- Last Date of Entry : 23rd May 2024

- Entry Submission : Only online entries will be accepted


 Eligibility

- The tournament is open to all amateur chess players registered with AICF (All India Chess Federation).

- Participants must comply with the rating limits and eligibility criteria set by the organizers.


 Registration

- Deadline: All entries must be submitted online by 23rd May 2024.

- Procedure: Participants must register through the official tournament website or the provided online registration platform.

- Fee: The registration fee is to be paid online during the registration process. The amount and payment details will be provided on the registration portal.

Tournament Format

- The tournament will follow the Swiss System format.

- The number of rounds will be determined based on the total number of participants.

- Pairings will be generated using standard Swiss pairing software recognized by FIDE.


 Rules and Regulations

- The tournament will be governed by the FIDE Laws of Chess and the regulations set forth by the All India Chess Federation (AICF).

- AACA registration (fee of Rs. 150/-) is compulsory for all the players (Click here to register for AACA)

- Time Control: Each player will have 25 minutes for the entire game, with an increment of 5 seconds per move starting from move 1.

- Default Time: The default time is 10 minutes. If a player does not arrive at the board within 10 minutes of the start of the round, they will be forfeited.

- Draw Offers: Players can offer a draw at any time. However, excessive draw offers may be penalized.

- Recording of Moves: Players are not required to record moves, but it is encouraged for the purpose of post-game analysis.


Conduct and Fair Play

- Players are expected to maintain high standards of sportsmanship and fair play.

- Use of electronic devices is strictly prohibited in the playing area.

- Any form of cheating, including but not limited to using external assistance or electronic devices, will result in immediate disqualification and further disciplinary action by AICF.

- Players must comply with the dress code set by the organizers, if any.


Appeals and Arbitration

- Any disputes or issues arising during the tournament will be addressed by the Chief Arbiter and the panel of arbiters.

- Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Appeals Committee along with a refundable fee, within a specified time frame after the incident in question.

- The decision of the Appeals Committee will be final and binding.


 Prizes

- The total prize fund is Rs 1 Lakh, which will be distributed among the top performers as per the prize structure announced by the organizers.

- Prizes will be awarded based on the final standings after all rounds have been completed.

- In case of a tie, tiebreaks will be used to determine the prize winners. The tiebreak criteria will be announced before the start of the tournament.


 Additional Information

- Players must bring their own chess clocks and sets, which must meet the tournament standards.

- Any changes or updates to the tournament rules will be communicated to the participants in a timely manner.
